How to use Outlook® or Outlook Express® with your Lightblast™ E-mail Account

  4. Adding/Changing/Deleting Email Accounts to Microsoft Outlook:

Outlook Express Setup Instructions:

  1. Open Microsoft Outlook Express – if this is the first time setting up Outlook Express, the Internet Connection Wizard window should appear. If this is NOT the first time setting up Outlook Express, see adding/changing/deleting email accounts below.
  2. Enter your name in the “Display Name” box, click Next.
  3. Enter the Lightblast.net email address you selected (i.e. john@lightblast.net), click Next
  4. Verify the incoming mail server is set to “POP3”.
  5. Enter “mail.lightblast.net” for both the Incoming and Outgoing (SMTP) servers, click Next.
  6. For Account Name, enter the first part of your email address (before @lightblast.net). This is considered your “Username”.
  7. Enter the email password provided to FTTH Communications.
  8. “Log on using Secure Password Authentication” should NOT be checked, click Next then Finish.
  9. You should return to the Internet Accounts window and your Lightblast.net account will appear under the Mail tab. Double click on the Lightblast.net account to open the Properties window.
  10. Select the Servers tab.
  11. Under Outgoing Server, click on the box “My server requires authentication” then select the Settings button on the right.
  12. Verify there is a dot next to “Use same settings as my incoming mail server” then click OK then Apply and Close.

Adding/Changing/Deleting Email Accounts to Microsoft Outlook Express:


  1. Open Microsoft Outlook Express.
  2. Select “Tools” from the menu bar then choose “Accounts”
  3. The “Internet Accounts” window will appear. Select the “Mail” tab.
  4. Click on the Add, Remove or Properties (to change) button on the right-hand side.
  5. Then follow steps 2-9 listed above for adding accounts to Outlook Express.

Microsoft Outlook XP/2003 Set Up Instructions:

  1. Open Microsoft Outlook – if this is the first time setting up Outlook, the Internet Connection Wizard window should appear. . If this is NOT the first time setting up Outlook Express, see adding/changing/deleting email accounts below.
  2. Select “Add a new e-mail account” then click on Next.
  3. Select “POP3” for server type then click on Next.
  4. Under User Information, enter Your Name and the FTTH email address you selected.
  5. For Server Information, enter mail.lightblast.net for BOTH incoming (POP3) and outgoing (SMTP) mail servers.
  6. Next, under Logon Information, enter your Username which is the portion of your email address prior to the @ symbol and enter the password you provided to FTTH Communications. Click on “Remember Password” if you wish for Outlook to remember your password.
  7. Next click on the “More Settings” button on the right hand side and Click on the Outgoing Server tab.
  8. Click on the box “My outgoing server (SMTP) requires authentication” then verify there is a dot next to “Use same settings as my incoming mail server” and click OK then Next and Finish.
  9. This should complete your setup for Microsoft Outlook.

  1. Open Microsoft Outlook.
  2. Select “Tools” from the menu bar then choose “E-mail Accounts”
  3. Select “View or Change an Existing Email account” and click on Next.
  4. Click on the Add, Remove or Change button on the right-hand side.
  5. Then follow steps 2-9 listed above for adding accounts to Outlook.

How to use Netscape Mail with your Lightblast E-mail account

  1. Open Netscape Mail
  2. Go to EDIT on the toolbar and select PREFERENCES
  3. Open the Mail & Newsgroups menu by clicking the "+" symbol next to it.
  4. Select Mail Servers.
  5. Fill in your Outgoing Mail server with mail.lightblast.net
  6. Select "Never use SSL or TSL for outgoing messages."
  7. 7. Click EDIT, you should be still within the Mail Servers section under the Mail & Newsgroups menu.
  8. Fill in your Server Name with mail.lightblast.net
  9. Select POP3 as your Server Type.

Instructions for Eudora email setup:


  1. Open Eudora.
  2. Click Special.
  3. Click Settings.
  4. Find and select Getting Started (If not already selected).
  5. Type in your account/username (This will be the first part of your email address, before the @lightblast.net).
  6. Type in the Mail Server: mail.lightblast.net
  7. Type in your Real Name. (Your first and last name)
  8. Type in your SMTP server: mail.lightblast.net
  9. Click OK
  10. Click Check Mail. You will then be prompted for your password.
  11. 1 Type in your password
  12. 1 Click OK

Instructions for OE Mac edition:


  1. Open Outlook Express.
  2. If the wizard opens up, go ahead and continue. You will find the information below that is needed to complete the setup. If the wizard does not open, proceed to step
  3. Click Tools.
  4. Click Accounts.
  5. Enter your email address provided to FTTH Communications. Select Next.
  6. Enter your incoming and outgoing mail servers.
  7. a. My incoming mail server is a "POP3" server.
  8. b. Incoming mail server - mail.lightblast.net
  9. c. Outgoing mail server - mail.lightblast.net .
  10. Enter your account name. Your account name is the first half of your email address: i.e. henry@lightblast.net - account name is henry.
  11. Make sure that this screen already has POP listed from the pull-down menu. Enter mail.lightblast.net for both the incoming and outgoing server names. Use lowercase letters. Click the right arrow.
  12. Enter your Account ID. This is the first part of your email address, before the @lightblast.net.
  13. Enter your password. Remember, it's case-sensative. Click the right arrow.
  14. 1 Enter Lightblast Email for the Account Name.
  15. 1 Click Finish.

Entourage Setup Instructions:

  1. Open Entourage
  2. Select Tools Menu then choose Accounts
  3. Click on ‘New”
  4. Account type should be set to POP then click OK
  5. For Account Name, enter Lightblast.net then click on the box ‘Include this account in my send & receive all schedule’
  6. Enter your name and your FTTH email address.
  7. Under receiving mail, enter your email user name for ‘Account ID’. Your username will be the first half of your email address prior to the ‘@’ symbol.
  8. For POP server, enter mail.lightblast.net then enter the email password you provided to FTTH.
  9. For SMTP server, enter mail.lightblast.net then click on ‘Click here for advanced sending options’.
  10. Click on the box ‘SMPT server requires authentication’ then click on the circle ‘Use same setting as receiving mail server
